I am a photographer and educator located in Northwest Ohio. I hold a master's degree in business education and am licensed to teach business, marketing as well as interactive media. I came to art later in life although the roots were there all along. My grandmother was an author and artist and published several children's book which she illustrated herself in 1917.
I have won approximately 2 dozen awards locally for my photography including a Best-of-Show, 2 firsts, a 2nd and a 3rd place finish and numerous honorable mentions. 3/4 of these awards were in a local show entitled, "Celebrating Nature Through Photography." This show is held in the National Center for Nature Photogrpahy, Sylvania, Ohio. This success in a relatively short period of time, 4-years, encouraged me to explore traditional art media including acrylics, pastels and colored pencil. The reward I get for expressing myself artistically goes far beyond any monetary gain. It is a fact that most children put aside their crayons and artistic aspirations by age 12. Re-capturing that side of myself has enabled me to learn more about myself to be sure, but more importantly, this has forced me to pay attention to the world around me in minute detail.
I take great delight in simple scenes in my photography but do not shy away from grand vistas when they present themselves (i.e. "Teton Dawn"). I want my photography to evoke a mood in the viewer and I pride myself on being able to take an oft-photographed scene such as "Portland Light," and make it my own. Freeman Patterson, the author, has had great influence on my work especially early on. Mr. Patterson's book, "Photography and the Art of Seeing," makes clear that to produce compelling photographs or any art for that matter, one must learn to really examine the subject and take all factors into account.
I hope you enjoy my work and your feedback is welcome,

ABOUT THE GALLERIES:
You will notice two types of galleries; those with a prints on demand feature enabled and those without. The latter requests that you contact me directly. Every image in these galleries are limited edition signed and numbered prints. As such, I control all aspects fo the creation of the giclee print. This include the use of archival papers, dye-based printing inks as well as personally signing and numbering every print.
In a few cases, I can offer custom sizes to suit architectural and/or design needs.
